Hold a Micrometer Exactly Where You Want It
-------------------------------------------
The PanaVise 391 micrometer stand is designed to help obtain
error-free readings of the widths of small machined parts and
other objects, using the calibrated screws of micrometers. The
391 micrometer stand consists of two PanaVise components: the 385
micrometer head and the 305 low-profile base. The PanaVise 385
micrometer head is 3-1/8" (79.8 mm) tall and weighs 0.23 lb. (0.1
kg). The head has a 5/8" (15.9 mm) shaft with which it s to
the PanaVise 305 low-profile base. The upper end of the head has
a side twist jaw lined with two thermoplastic Delrin pads. The
jaws of the 385 micrometer head open from 0 - 1/2" (12.7 mm) with
the high stiffness and low friction of the Delrin pads aiding in
the accuracy of readings. The 385 micrometer head has a 15/16"
(24.1 mm) throat depth. This allows the head to effectively clamp
the frame of an inserted micrometer into place, freeing one hand
to hold the edge of a part within the anvil and spindle of the
micrometer while the other turns micrometer's thimble knob to
take a measurement. The PanaVise 350 low-profile base is 2-1/2"
(63.5 mm) with a base diameter of 4-5/16" (109.5 mm). The low
profile of the base allows a user to keep an item comfortably
close, and closer to the work bench. The bolt circle at the
bottom of the base contains three pre-drilled holes countersunk
for use with 1/4" (6.3 mm) flat head screws (sold separately), to
secure the base to a work surface. Alternatively, the 1.3 lb.
(0.6 kg) weight of the 350 low-profile base can maintain
stability and stand alone.
Split-ball adjustments allow micrometers to be positioned to
take the most accurate readings.

small items.

Tilt, Turn and Rotate Functionality
-----------------------------------
The 391 micrometer stand utilizes PanaVise single knob
"split-ball" functionality at the point of contact between its
base and head. Once the two components are connected and an item
is secured, the split-ball system allows for maneuvering that
item along three separate planes (tilt, turn and rotate) with a
single-load control knob locking the head firmly in place. The
complete range of mobility possible with the model 391's
split-ball system is a 90-degree tilt to the side, along with
either an angled rotation, or a level turn range of 360 degrees.
This mobility range allows a user to rearrange items being worked
on into any position, limiting the need to adjust the overall
position of the vise or the item within the vise.
Multiple Vise Head Options
--------------------------
Although the included 385 micrometer head is intended as the
head option of the PanaVise 391 micrometer stand, the 391 is also
designed to be compatible with a range of vise heads. The
included 305 low-profile base works with all PanaVise 300 series
vise heads, as well as the PV Jr. model 203 head, or any with a
5/8" diameter shaft, allowing a user to expand their work-holding
tool's capabilities as dired.
