About the Author ---------------- Melita Belgrave is currently Assistant Professor of Music Therapy at the University of Missouri Kansas City. She has worked as a music therapist in special education, mental , rehabilitation, hospice, geriatric, and intergenerational settings throughout Texas and Florida. Her research interests are music therapy with older adults and intergenerational programming. Dr. Belgrave has presented at regional, national, and international conferences, and her research has been published in the Journal of Music Therapy and Music Therapy Perspectives. Alice-Ann Darrow is the Irvin Cooper Professor of Music Therapy and Music Education at Florida State University. Her teaching and research interests are special music education and the role of music in deaf culture. Other areas of research and clinical specialization include nonverbal communication in music education and music therapy, and integrated groups in clinical practice. Dr. Darrow is editor of the text Introduction to Approaches in Music Therapy, and co-author of Music in Special Education. She serves on numerous editorial boards and has been the recipient of research and clinical practice awards from the American Music Therapy Association. Darcy Walworth directs the music therapy program at the University of Louisville, having previously taught at Florida State University. Dr. Walworth actively researches the effects of music therapy in medical and early childhood settings with emphases in medical procedural support, of persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and developmental outcomes of premature infants. She has co-authored and contributed chapters to multiple books addressing varying client populations. Dr. Walworth has presented papers at regional, national, and international conferences, and currently serves on the board of directors of the Certification Board for Music Therapists and the Editorial Board for the Journal of Music Therapy. Natalie Wlodarczyk is currently Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Therapy at Drury University. Her primary area of clinical expertise is music therapy in hospice and bereavement; she is a former clinical training director of Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee, Florida. Dr. Wlodarczyk also has experience in music therapy with persons with Alzheimer s disease, premature infants, and intergenerational programming. She is a regular presenter at both national and regional conferences and has published articles in the Journal of Music Therapy and the Journal of Poetry Therapy. Read more ( javascript:void(0) )
